Below you will see definitions for “Love”/”Charity”, and “Hate”/”Hatred”. Although there are more definitions for love , in accordance with what context in which the term is used, the definition below relates to how the term is used in today’s lesson. This is the highest form of love: The kind that comes from the heart of God, Himself.

-Love/Charity: “ Agape” ( Greek) – “Affection, good will, benevolence”

[ It is associated with being charitable, caring for others].

-Hate/Hatred: “Miseo” ( Greek)- “Detest”.

[Strong’s reference to William Edwy Vine’s comment on “Hate” - “Miseo”:1 “ Of malicious and unjustifiable feelings towards others, whether towards the innocent or by mutual animosity”; 2 “ Of relative preference for one thing over another by way of expressing either aversion from, or disregard for the claims of one person or thing, relatively to those of another”]

Points to Remember

-As Pastor Leonard Brown states in his video, we as Christians are not to be “ respecters of persons”, as the Bible says in James 2:1-9; because the Word of God says that God, Himself, is not ( See Acts 10:34; Ephes. 6:9; 1 Peter 1:17).

-The Bible states that we are to “ Honor all men…” ( See 1Peter 2:17).

-Not walking in love can, at minimum, cause us, as believers, to lose certain aspects of our inheritance in the Kingdom of God, such as the Lord’s mercy, favor, and blessings here in this life, as well potentially, in Heaven. However, it is also possible that we forfeit Heaven altogether if we live an ungodly, carnal LIFESTYLE, or walk in hatred and unforgiveness , which can ultimately lead to being in a state of reprobation.

-The Bible says, “ He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love” ( I John 4:8).

-As Pastor Leonard ministered, the 2 greatest commandments ,on which ALL of the commandments, and even the “perfect law of liberty”- the law of love- are established are:

“ … Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” ( See Matthew 22:37-40).
